My trip to Londen

On 20 may 2014 I went to Londen with school. We had to gather at the Energiehuis at 6:30 in the morning. I woke at 5:30, after packing my stuff, showering and breakfast my father drove me to the Energiehuis. We were one of the first people to arrive. After five minutes my friends arrived and my father left. At seven o’clock the bus arrived, we put our stuff in the luggage compartment. We took a sit, and I was sitting next to my friend Tom. I was wearing short pants and everyone said that it would be cold in London and it was stupid to wear short pants. But after two hours of driving it became very hot inside the bus. And everyone regretted that they were wearing long pants. after a few hours of driving we took a stop in a gas station. We bought some food and went to the toilet. Me and my friends went outside and sat down next to a little lake. After a few minutes we returned to the bus and continued the trip. A few hours later we arrived at the train. We drove inside the train and went through a tunnel to England. After we left the train, we drove a few more hours until we arrived in London. In London we took the touristic route to our hostel. We drove over the tower bridge and saw some beautiful buildings. At the hostel we unpacked the bus and got a key to our rooms. I was on a room of eight. Afterwards we went to Westminster abbey and had dinner in a pub. After dinner we went to bed.

The next day we wanted to wake up at seven o’clock. But my friend Maarten hadn’t changed his clock to the English time so we woke up at six o’clock. We only noticed this after we had showered. We had breakfast at 7:30, an afterwards we got lunch in a supermarket next to the hostel. We went to two museums and to the Shakespeare theatre. Afterwards we had dinner in a pub. After dinner we did a Jack the Ripper tour. We divided the group in two, each group had his own guide. We walked to several places where events in the time of Jack the Ripper occurred. We had a very good guide, he was able to drag you in the story and he made many jokes. He also scared the crap out of us twice. The first time he went around the corner and randomly turn back and screamed. And the second time he was standing in front of an iron fence, he slammed the fence and we all were terrified. When we reassembled with the rest of the group, we returned to the hostel.

The next day we woke up at seven o’clock. I took a shower and had breakfast. Afterwards my friends and I went to the supermarket to get lunch. I bought some bread and chicken. When we gathered with the rest of the group we went to the tower. In the Tower we saw some awesome pieces of war equipment and we saw the Crown Jewels. After the Tower, we had five hours of free time. Maarten, Robert and I wanted to go to the imperial war museum. We decided to meet with our other friends at Oxford Street after three hours. First we went back to the hostel because Maarten and Robert had forgotten their phones. Afterwards we went to the imperial war museum. The imperial war museum is situated on the outside of London. In total the trip to the museum took us two hours. When we arrived we walked towards the museum and saw that it was closed. We were incredibly pissed that we travelled two hours in vain. We decided to eat our lunch on a bench in front of the museum. The chicken was delicious and after lunch we went to Oxford Street to meet with our friends. By the time they arrived it started raining. We ran inside a Mc Donald’s, the rain was very dirty and it hurt in our eyes. After the rain had stopped we went outside. Maarten, Tom and I went to the St Pauls Church. Sadly you had to pay seven and a half pounds to go inside. Afterwards we went to Leicester Square to meet with the rest of the group. When the entire group had arrived we went to a pub for dinner. We ate fish and chips but I wasn’t very hungry because I had a lot of chicken for lunch. After dinner we went to the musical Wicked. We sat in front of some eighteen year old girls who were very annoying. They threw all kinds of stuff towards us and were making a lot of noise. However I really liked the musical. After the musical we went back to the metro station but seven of us were still inside the theatre because they had to go to the toilet. They decided to go by themselves to the hostel. We had waited for fifteen minutes on them when they called that they had left. So we returned to the hostel as well. When we arrived at the hostel we packed our stuff. I stayed up almost all night and it was a lot of fun.

The next morning I woke up at six in the morning. I took a shower and had breakfast. After breakfast we got lunch in the supermarket. When we gathered with the rest of the group, some people where very late. Our teachers decided that we were not going to the market where we were supposed to go. So we had one hour and a half of free time. We walked to the Westfield shopping mall and ate our lunch in a little park. Afterwards we put our stuff in the bus and we went back to the Netherlands. The trip back was a lot more fun because it wasn’t as bad as the first trip. We arrived around ten o’clock. My father picked me up and when I came back home I immediately went to sleep. 

my vacation

This summer I went on vacation to France with my family. We drove to our vacation location at night. The trip took us ten hours. We arrived at eleven o'clock in the morning. But we couldn't go in the holiday home because it was being cleaned. We went to a super market, but our navigation crashed. Therefore, it was hard to find one. We had driven around for 20 minutes when we finally found one. We went inside and bought some food. We went back to the car and drove to a pick nick table we saw on the way to the supermarket. When we arrived at the pick nick table, we ate the food we got from the supermarket and went back to the vacation house. When we arrived, the cleaner was had finished her job. She gave us a tour. When the tour was over, we unpacked the car. After unpacking, we took a swim in the swimming pool. 
The next day my parents came up with the idea to go canoeing. We thought it was a good idea so we drove to a canoe rental. When we arrived, we asked if we could rent some canoes, but they were out of canoes. However, we could make a reservation for the canoes on Wednesday at one o’clock. So we made a reservation for two canoes for one person and one canoe for three persons. Me and my eleven year old brother had a one person canoe and my parents and nine year old brother a three person canoe. After the reservation was made my parents wanted to go hiking. We drove to a hiking route and started hiking. After two hours we got bored so we wanted to go back, but we didn’t want to walk back the same way we came. We looked on the map and thought we saw a shortcut. We took the shortcut but after 10 minutes the route stopped so we decided to take the same way back.
The next day it rained all day long so we stay at home. We played some board games and watched a movie.
the next day we woke up very late. We had breakfast and afterwards we went to the canoe rental. We picked up the canoes and dragged them to the river. It took us 3 hours to do the route and when we came back, we were exhausted.
The next day we went cave exploring. We were accompanied by a guide. We had to crawl to narrow holes. It was a lot of fun and we saw some beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. At night, we went hiking. We saw a lot of deer’s and a fox.
The next day we went to one of the biggest caves of France. There was a queue of 1.5 hours. We had to walk down around 700 steps until we reached the bottom of the cave. There was another queue of 30 minutes for a boat tour. After the boat tour a guide showed us around the cave. It was very beautiful we saw all kinds of stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and columns. The biggest stalagmite was 75 meter tall and 3.5 meter wide. The way back we could chose to walk back up the stairs or stand in a 45-minute queue for the elevator. We decided to take the stairs and we were back up in 15 minutes. When we arrived at the car it was 6 o’clock and we were hungry. We decided to go to a pizzeria. It took us 30 minutes to find a pizzeria but it was worth it because the pizza was delicious.

The next day we had to repack our stuff because we were going to our next location. We wanted to leave at 10 o’clock but before we could drive to the next destination we had to wait for the owner and give back the keys. The owner told us that she came to pick up the keys at 10 o'clock,but at 10.30 she still hadn't arrived. We called the owner and she said she should arrive in 10 minutes. After 10 minutes she hadn't arrived yet. We decided to let the door open and to put the keys on the table and leave. When we drove away the navigation said the trip was going to take 8 hours. But after 2 hours driving we ended up in a traffic jam. We drove around the traffic jam what took us an hour. When we were back on the highway for half an hour, we ended up in a traffic jam again. In total the trip didn't took 8 hours but 12 hours. We arrived at 9 o’clock in the evening. We unpacked our car and ate something. After eating, we went to bed because we were tired from the long trip.

The next day my dad and I went to a surf shop to rent a board. We found a good board and rented it. We went back to the house to pick up the rest. We went to a beautiful beach. When we arrived, I immediately took my board and went surfing. The waves were almost 15 feet high. It was very hard to get through the waves. However, when I was through them I could take some good waves. It was a lot of fun until it became flood and the entire beach was under water. We had to leave because there was no place left to sit.
The next day my mother and brothers stayed at home and my father and I went cycling to find some good beaches to go for the rest of the vacation. We found some good places for surfing but on most of those places, there wasn’t much to do for the rest. We found one good beach with good waves and some other things to do for my brothers. We came back around six o’clock and we could immediately join dinner.

The next couple of days it was good weather so we went to the beach. I went surfing every day and I was getting better at it. I decided to rent a smaller board because it’s more difficult with a smaller board but you can do more tricks with it. We went to the surf shop and rented a 1 foot centimetre smaller board.

The next day we stayed at home because it was too cold outside. We played some soccer in the backyard. But our neighbour had hanged some signs at the fence that said “if you a ball comes on my property you won’t get it back.” We tried to keep the ball low to the ground. However, after 10 minutes my brother kicked the ball over the fence. We went to the neighbour to get the ball out of his yard. I climbed over the fence to get it. But he ran out of the door screamed something in France took our ball and ran back inside. We knocked on the door and when he came out of the house, I asked if we could get our ball back. He said we couldn’t get it back and that we had to get of his property. I said we would leave if we could get the ball back. He threatened us that he would call the police if we didn’t leave. Than me dad came he said that if we could have the ball back it wouldn’t happen again and that we would leave. He gave the ball back and we left.

The next day the weather was a lot better so we went to the beach. I tried my new board in the begin it was difficult but after an hour it went a lot better and I could do some tricks. After surfing I went snorkelling with my dad and my brother. We saw many beautiful fish and I swam in a school of a few hundred fish.

The next day we drove half an hour to another piece of the peninsula and went to the beach there. It wasn’t very fun because there were no waves so I couldn’t go surfing and there were no good snorkelling spots. After 2 hours we left and went hiking in a little forest. The hike took 2 hours and was boring.

The next day my nine-year-old brother and my mom didn’t want to go anywhere. Me my dad and my eleven-year-old brother went to a field to play soccer. It was fun and afterwards we bought some ice cream. When we arrived back in the house, we watched a movie and played a board game.

The next couple of days we went to the beach. But I couldn’t surf good because every time we went to the beach it was flood and the waves collapsed too close to the beach. And it became ebb when it was dark. And I couldn’t surf in the dark.

The last day of the vacation, my dad and I stood up early so we could go surfing while it was still ebb. I could take some good waves and did some fun tricks. Afterwards we returned the board back to the surf shop. When we came back in the house, we packed our stuff. After packing, we had dinner. Afterwards we gave the keys back to the owner and left. The travel to our next location was even worse than our second travel. After 30 minutes we landed up in a 1.5 hour traffic jam. 1 hour later we landed up in another traffic jam because the road was under maintenance. This traffic jam took us another hour. We drove 3 hours without problems when we got a flat tire and we didn’t took our spare tire because we needed the space for our stuff. We called the breakdown service, we were told they would arrive within an hour. However, after an hour no one had arrived yet. He arrived after 1.5 hours, he changed our tire and we continued our trip. When we arrived at our next location it was five o’clock in the morning. The trip was supposed to take seven hours it took us eleven hours. Luckily, we could pick up the keys at the reception of the holiday village. We had a beautiful house with a big garden,  two bathrooms, a big TV and most important a nice warm bed. We all went to sleep without unpacking the car.


My brother waked me at eleven o’clock. After breakfast we unpacked the car, and went to a supermarket. When we were standing in the queue for the pay desk, we found out we lost my nine-year-old brother. We went searching and after 5 minutes, we found him next to the candy. We went back to the queue and paid our groceries. We drove back to our house and after we unloaded the car we walked around the holiday village. It was a nice holiday village there were a lot of playgrounds and a soccer field. After the walk we went to the swimming pool. The swimming pool was pretty small and didn’t have a waterslide. But it was fun and after 1 hour we left and returned to the house. When we came back my mother had made dinner, we ate some delicious lasagne. At night my mother went with my brothers to the kids night. And my dad and I watched a movie.

The next day we went hiking in a forest. We walked past a little river and saw some deer’s and rabbits. The hike took 2 hours and afterwards we went swimming in a lake. The lake was around the size of a soccer field and there was a little beach next to the lake. It was a lot of fun. There was also an adventure climbing park, we decided to go there next day. We went back to the house and ate potatoes with beans and meatballs. After dinner we walked to a soccer field, we played soccer with a few other French boys. Afterwards my brothers went to bed and my dad, mother and I watched a movie.

The next day I woke up at ten o’clock. I walked to the living room there, was a note on the table that my brother and I had to go to the bakery to get some breakfast. But my French isn’t very good I wanted to ask for fifteen croissants but I asked for 50. The baker said he didn’t had that much, but I thought he had enough so is showed with my fingers how much I wanted but he still didn’t understand it. Luckily someone who spoke English came into the bakery. I told him how much I wanted and he told it to the baker. We got the croissants and left. When we arrived back at the house, my parents had woken up and we had breakfast. After breakfast we drove to the adventure climbing park. We got some climbing gear and before we could enter the park we got an instruction about how to use the gear. After the instruction we could start climbing, there were four different types of courses, yellow, blue, red and black. Yellow is the most easy and black the most difficult. I did all of them I enjoyed all of them but I liked the black course the most because at the end you zip lined almost 70 metres down.  Afterwards we went to the town, we walked into a little market with all kind of special items. There also was a parade with all kinds of beautiful parade cars and music. After the parade we went back to the house. While my mom cooked dinner my brothers, father and I went to the soccer field. We played soccer with the same people as before. After 30 minutes we went back and ate macaroni. At night we went to the swimming pool but after 30 minutes we had to leave because they were going to clean the pool. So we went back to the house and watched a movie. After the movie I went to bed.

When I woke up it was 10.30, I walked downstairs and saw that my brothers had gone to the bakery. A few minutes later my parents came down and my brothers returned from. We had breakfast and afterwards we went to the super market. This time we didn’t lose my brother. Afterwards we went back to the house and unloaded the car. After unloaded, my father, brothers and I went to the soccer field, this time we played soccer alone. After 20 minutes it started raining so we returned to the house. We hoped the rain would stop soon so we could do something, but sadly it rained all day long. We played a board game and went to the swimming pool. After swimming I helped my mother with cooking, it wasn’t difficult. We ate wraps with an egg and it was delicious. After dinner the rain had stopped, we took a walk but after 30 minutes it started raining again. When we came back in the house we watched a film. Afterwards my brothers went to bed and I played some games on my phone. I went to bed one hour later.
The next morning I woke up at 10:30. When I came downstairs, I saw a note on the table. It said that I had to go to the bakery and get breakfast. When I arrived at the bakery, there was a big queue. After 10 minutes it was my turn. I asked for some croissants and two breads. When I came back to the house, we had breakfast. During breakfast, my parents introduced the idea to go sailing in a lake. We were excited. After breakfast, we went to the lake. The trip took 30 minutes. First we got an introduction about how to sail. Afterwards we pushed a sailboat in the water. In the begin it was very difficult and we didn’t got lots of speed. But after some practice we improved our skills and we were able to go very fast. But we lacked the ability to make good turns and to decreasing speed. We were about to crash into another boat. We tried to make a turn and decrease speed. Luckily the other boat changed course just in time. We decided to sail more safe and practice some more. At the end of the day we were able to make some turns and decrease speed. We sailed across a good looking beach and we decided to make a stop and take a swim. After swimming, we went back and pushed the boat a shore. Before we went back to the house we went to the market for food. When we arrived back at the house my mom started cooking dinner and we walked to the soccer field.  After 10 minutes my brother shot the ball inside a big tree. We tried throwing it out with rocks and sticks but it didn’t work. I climbed up in the tree and tried to get to the ball but it was too high. I tried shaking the branch the ball was on. The ball fall down and we went back to the house to have dinner. We ate lasagne and it was delicious. After dinner we took a walk around the park. Afterwards my brothers went to bed and one hour later I went to bed too.

The next morning I woke up early because we had to drive back to the Netherlands. We packed the car and after packing we had breakfast. We brought the key back to the reception and went home. The trip home went very smooth, we had no traffic jams and the travel took us only eight hours and we arrived back at one o’clock.


I really enjoyed my vacation especially the two weeks at the beach. In the first week, I liked the canoeing the most and the swimming pool was a lot of fun too. In the two weeks at the beach, I really enjoyed surfing and snorkelling. In the last week I really enjoyed the sailing and the climbing.
